VLC technology in traffic systems allows drivers to connect and create information from traffic lighting systems through smart devices or car headlights. Using tail lights, this information can also be communicated to other cars. This technology can be used to send information such as traffic updates, the quickest estimated time of arrival to a given area (including traffic congestion), or even internet access. Drivers may, however, use smart devices while driving, posing difficulty. The optimal solution to this problem is to embed a visible communication system within the vehicle and communicate information using the car’s headlights. However, noise may reduce the efficiency of these intelligent traffic systems, lowering the adoption rate of VLC systems.
