The purpose of this paper is to explore available studies related to the efficacy and cost effectiveness of tele-intensive care applications, and to review the literature to study possible barriers to widespread adoption. While the study drew conclusions about costs based on mortality and length of stay(Los),actual costs were not reported. Another problem with the study is the lack of consistent measurement,reporting, and adjustment of the patient’s severity. From the data available,Tele-ICU seems to be a promising route, especially in the United States, where there is a limited number of board-certified concentrates.
