Radiotherapy Market Size

Global radiotherapy market is estimated to grow at a CAGR of over 6% during the forecast period. Radiation therapy makes use of high-energy rays to kill cancer cells. Radiation therapy can be used as a first-line treatment for cancer when the cancer is in the low grade. Radiation therapy is proven effective for the treatment of cancer and the success rate is also much better as compared with other therapies, which fuels the radiotherapy market growth.

The radiation therapy is also recommended when cancer cells re-emerge and are not removed completely. Radiation therapy is also used for advanced cancer treatments for monitoring and controlling cancer to prevent and relieve symptoms. Brachytherapy and external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) are the two major therapy types included in the radiotherapy market, that are used for the treatment of cancer.

Brachytherapy is also known as seed implantation or interstitial radiation therapy, is a type of radiation therapy in which small radioactive pellets are placed directly into the body. Brachytherapy is usually recommended for early-stage cancer treatment that develops slowly. For high-risk cancer, brachytherapy with external radiation can be used. Brachytherapy, however, is not suitable sometimes. For instance, for the treatment of men with urinary problems or men with larger prostate glands, cannot be treated with this therapy.
