The Baicalin Market size is expected to grow at an annual average of 5% during 2022-2028. Huang Qin (root of Scutellaria baicalensis) is a widely used herb in many countries for adjuvant therapy of inflammation, diabetes, high blood pressure, various types of cancer and virus-related diseases. Baicalin is the main flavonoid in this herb and has been extensively studied for over 30 years. The angiogenic effects of herbal dust extract and baicalin were discovered 13 years ago, but some studies have had angiogenic effects and others have been controversial about their antiangiogenic effects. In this paper, the angiogenic effects of baicalin, the aglycone form of baicalin, and aqueous extracts of baicalin and hwangjin are studied in a chick embryo chorionic allantoic (CAM) model. A dose-dependent dual effect was found in both the aqueous extract and baicalin, but not in baicalin, where only an inhibitory effect was observed. To elucidate the cellular and molecular mechanisms for the effects of baicalin and baicalin on angiogenesis, we performed cell proliferation and programmed apoptosis assays on treated CAM.
