Global Dialysis Equipment Trends 2021 | Segmentation, Outlook, Industry Report to 2027

The global dialysis equipment market is anticipated to grow with a significant CAGR of 6.1%, during the forecast period.Dialysis care is significantly improving through the implementation of science coupled with the focus on delivering broader access to dialysis patients.  In the recent past, the dialysis has evolved from hospital-based treatment to safe and widely available outpatient procedure. Moreover, dialysis requires a lot of energy and resource and can be considered as one of the treatments with the highest power consumption in today’s healthcare system. The dialysis process emits a subsequent amount of carbon that affects the environment and is not sustainable. Many initiatives are being taken to employ methods that not only save precious resources; however, it also save the planet and make the process more sustainable in nature. For instance, green dialysis is a program to support sustainable dialysis, designed for Geelong, Victoria. However, the program is now accruing a national recognition with the support from key national renal and dialysis bodies, including the Renal Society of Australasia , Kidney Health Australia, Australian, and New Zealand Society of Nephrology, and Kidney Health New Zealand.

There is a range of innovations set on the dialysis equipment. For instance, Outset Medical introduced the Tablo that is used for in-center dialysis use. It is a simple, versatile approach, which considerably reduces the cost and complexity of dialysis. Tablo offers dialysis machine in combination with the water purification system in one compact package. It purifies water and produces dialysate in real-time with two-way communication with the cloud that allows for seamless transmission of treatment data to the provider.

Baxter Health Care’s Amia PD cycler is a personal navigation system for performing peritoneal dialysis at home. Amia offers treatments enhanced by step-by-step directions, voice-guided, and full-color animations. Amia comes with an incorporated Sharesource platform that allows the patient to be connected with the clinic and their healthcare provider can manage the therapy remotely. The NxStage System One is a portable hemodialysis system for home use that can be used to perform solo hemodialysis during waking hours, and nocturnal hemodialysis while the patient is asleep. It is small enough to carry around during the travel and enabled patients to bring their treatment supplies with them.

The av-Guardian technology is evaluated in a first-in-human study conducted at National University Hospital of Singapore and Singapore General Hospital, with support from the National Kidney Foundation. In July 2019, Advent Access Pte. Ltd. received the CE mark for its av-Guardian technology that is primarily designed to create vascular access for dialysis patients. The product is developed on the company’s “guardian guide-door” technology, which aids in accessing arteriovenous fistulas that considerably reduces wear and tear on the dialysis patient’s veins.
